Peoples is the largest natural gas distribution company in Pennsylvania, providing reliable, low cost natural gas service to approximately 740,000 customers in Western Pennsylvania and Kentucky. Today, Peoples continues to grow by investing in our infrastructure. We are extending pipelines and bringing natural gas to areas where it was previously unavailable. But we're more than just an energy company. We are also re-establishing ourselves as a committed community partner by supporting innovation, infrastructure, the environment, and the people who live and work in this region.

Not only is Peoples a heating source for your home, we also work hard to support your home energy needs however we can. Through our website, Customer Service Center, and Marketing team, we offer information about the many benefits of natural gas appliances and energy saving tips. In addition, we help hundreds of families pay their gas bills with our customer assistance programs. Taking care of our customers means making sure we do our part to keep you safe and comfortable .

Community

Peoples is a great source of support and funding for the communities and regions we service. We have supported many worth-while causes, important community projects, and deserving organizations. And we don’t just provide monetary support. Peoples employees provide thousands of hours of volunteer service to organizations within our communities.   • History of Peoples

    Peoples has been providing natural gas service in western Pennsylvania for more than 130 years. In the last five years, Peoples purchased the T.W. Phillips Gas & Oil Company and Equitable Gas. These purchases also provided Peoples with service territories in West Virginia and Kentucky. In 2017, Peoples announced an agreement to purchase Delta Natural Gas, headquartered in Winchester, Kentucky.

    Today, Peoples is the largest natural gas distribution company in Pennsylvania and serves approximately 740,000 customers in Pennsylvania and Kentucky. Peoples is also proud to employ more than 1,100 people who live and work in the same communities we serve.

    On March 16, 2020, Peoples was officially acquired by Essential Utilities, Inc. Peoples retained its name and identity, and now operates under the Essential family of companies.

    Throughout Peoples' growth, we have never wavered from our mission to make customers lives better and our dedication to the values of safety, customer commitment, trust, and community.
