Gas leaks, an odor of gas, damaged lines, and carbon monoxide symptoms are all considered emergencies. If you have an emergency, call our emergency hotline at 1-800-400-4271 . Our personnel are ready to assist you 24/7. When in doubt, call us immediately. 

If you smell gas, do not attempt to locate the leak. Instead, leave the house or building right away. Do not turn on or off any electrical switches, appliances, or lights, as an electrical charge could create a spark. When you are in a safe place, call the Peoples emergency hotline.

PUC Safety Division Finds No Evidence That Public Utility Natural Gas Equipment Caused 2022 Home Explosion


On September 5, 2023, the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission shared an update on an April 2022 home explosion on Hialeah Drive in Plum Borough.

HARRISBURG – The Safety Division of the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC), which is part of the Commission’s independent Bureau of Investigation and Enforcement (I&E), has concluded their investigation into an April 2022 incident in Plum Borough, Allegheny County. They found no evidence that public utility equipment caused the event. Read the full press release from the PUC on their website.
